Tuning a Violin with a Piano

Tuning your violin using a Piano or Keyboard is a simple task. It is pretty easy and good for beginners because your only playing open strings on the violin, so you can have a free hand to turn the pegs while the piano and the violin are resonating. It's also better because you can tune each individual string, instead of getting one reference string and tuning the rest of the strings to it.

Open Strings - Down below I will talk about playing Open Strings. To play an Open String means to play a string without fretting anything. So that's why it's called Open.

The picture above shows you each string on the violin, it's same note on the Piano or Keyboard. Just follow the picture for each individual string and tune the string until it matches the keyboard or piano. Just play each string open, you don't have to fret anything. Make sure you use the 'Middle C' on the picture as a reference point so you don't tune your violin an octave too low, or too high.

Congratulations on tuning your violin!

I'm only 10 (no jokes plz) and I learned how to tune by myself thanks to this site! =D

I apologize to the author of "Tuning a Violin with a Piano", not for offering advice on polishing up the text, but for doing so in public. I should have submitted the errata privately to avoid any embarrassment. Notwithstanding the tone (pun intended), please note (damn, again!) that my criticisms were submitted with the best of intentions.

Wow, now I understand. I didn't realize at first but my violin's tune always changes when I'm different areas. Does it involve the weather or something like that?

Great chart!
I imagine it would be very useful for people not familiar with the piano!

(This is a message for Apachegila)
I believe you should take a look at the way you write, especially before "flaming" other people over the internet about their grammar.
It is my duty to ask you to write in an understandable manner (Preferably using the Queen's English). I therefore advice you to write "cannot" (or "can not") instead of "can't", and "does not" instead of "doesn't". The same goes for other contractions. Especially since my eyes start burning when i read texts written by lazy people.
I also strongly suggest that you rewrite your statement about the "adjective": "your". As this word is not an adjective.

Thank you for refraining from "flaming" in the future!

(I am by the way not from an English speaking country, and this text is not meant to be entirely grammatically correct. The text is only meant as a protest against "flamers", people who does not deserve the right express their feelings.)

-"We don't need no education."

Oh no! You did it again, except this time in reverse. You can't use the contraction "it's" when you want to show possession with the modifier "its"! Please study the proper use of the beloved apostrophe before publishing anything else. By the way, you can't "fret" a violin because it doesn't have any frets. Now you’re going to have to use the phrase “fingering” but how are you going to do that without sounding offensive? Good luck.
