Did anyone notice that the fingerboard of the bass is the mirror image of the notes on a violin but the 'G' string is the bass string?

I've just had the bass a day and am excited. I believe proper tuning is very important for training the ear.
The bass is so low and my ears are old. I don't have an amp yet so I have to listen very carefully. My idea is to put all small piece of tape on each "E" fret. There should be eight. Train the ear to "E" (Best choice) After getting the tuning as close as you can with the online tuner,(Thanks), Compare all the "E"s and finetune accordingly. Rehearse and memorize those positions.
12 on 'E' - 7&19 on 'A' - 2&14 on 'D' 9&21 on 'G' Of course the fifth fret is always available but some older instuments can be warped and intonation can be way off. This optional way of tuning is fun to learn and can help get a warped guitar working acceptable.

this is an awesome idea, but if there would be any way for you to add a 5 or 6 string option, that would be awesome cause i just got my first six string and tuning it so far has beeen different to say the least
