Online Cello Tuner

Use this free online cello tuner to tune up your cello. This is for the standard CGDA cello tuning. For other methods on how to tune your cello go to our Cello Tuning Methods page. Click on the note for the strick you want too tune and then tune the tuning pegs on your cello and match it up with the note that is being played. Also you can use this online tuner for your viola, it is the same tuning.

Warning: This online cello tuner produces sounds that are actually 1 octave higher then the cello, i did that because a lot of people dont have very good speakers on their computers and cant produce the rich deep sound of the cello, so I find that it is easier using these tones which are actually 1 octave higher to tune. So what I am saying is dont actually try to tune it to the same octave as these tones or your will break some strings, and nobobdy wants that.

tune your cello

Hello Cello

Cellos Rule [08-03-2010 21:29]

I really want to play the cello, but I can't cuz I already play the viola. Any tips on how to play both at the same time and not get confused, because my teacher says that if you wanted to play the viola and the cello at the same time, you might get confused with the note names. Anybody who plays both the viola and the cello, please give me helpful tips. Because there's still a slight chance that I might start cello, I just wanna play the cello so bad, I don't even know why I chose the viola in the first place, I should have chosen the cello, cuz now I can't get it out of my mind how much I wanna play the cello and it's driving me crazy, it's sooooo anoying to want something and know you may not get it! Cellos Rule!!!!!!!!!!! Now, the only thing left to do is figure out why I chose the viola. I still really like playing the viola, but I wanna play the cello even more. They just seem SO incredibly cool! I just can't get them off of my mind! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE cellos!!!!!!!!!!!

People really should not have to find an online 'tuner' to be able to get their cello in tune. The first thing you should have learnt is that the strings are tuned in perfect fifths. This is really not that difficult to do.

This is a great site and service, but I highly suggest the very easy fix of providing the option to hear lower tones. It's never bothered me much as I'm a long time musician, but I having just stumbled upon you're note and the comments, it seems silly to me not to provide the option to hear the true octave... some of us DO have great speakers and others of us could still get the general idea of what they are supposed to be listening for (at least enough to avoid breaking strings) even without good speakers if only they had the example, even if it was too hard to hear while trying to tune. Hope that helps. Thanks!
